Generally, there are two ways to delete categories in WordPress which are described step by step below:

• Delete a Specific WP Category

You can start off by selecting Posts from the Dashboard and select Categories. After that, you will be redirected to a new page where you will find options to edit the categories.

Then, choose the category you want to remove and click on the Delete option as shown in the above image. The category will be deleted instantly.

• Delete WP Categories in a Bulk

Just like earlier, login to your WordPress account and go to your Dashboard. Then, click on the Post and Categories to redirect to a different page.

Choose the Categories that you want to delete and select Delete from the Bulk Action drop-down menu and click Apply. You will notice that all of the categories you chose are deleted.

With these methods, you can add a new category, edit or delete them. Although it is an easy process, we have often found people struggling with the whole process.
